Inflection Point
Where persons share about the moment they started actively distrusting the Covid narrative
In his interview with Dan Astin Gregory, Mattias Desmet describes the process through which he became certain that there was something really off about the international community’s response to the coronavirus. Desmet, a professor of psychology at Ghent University and an expert in “mass formation” (I write about that here) shared that he had never been particularly worried about the virus. However, as an expert in statistical analysis, he was curious about the various mathematical projections that the media were communicating to the broad public in early 2020. He quickly noted a very striking pattern.
The first element of this pattern was that all the models being touted by the mainstream press were overestimating deaths. A particularly important example—given its wide-ranging influence on public health strategies—came out of Imperial College in London. That May 2020 model predicted that in the absence of lockdowns 80,000 Swedes would die of Covid before the end of the month. Yet, within the time frame stipulated by the model, 6000 people in Sweden were counted as having died from Covid.
The model had failed by a jaw-dropping factor of fifteen! Yet—and here is the second aspect of the pattern Desmet observed--the governments of the world, which had been claiming to work on the basis of science, did nothing to demonstrate any awareness of these models’ failures. They all carried on as if the models were correct. This is when Desmet became convinced that there was something fishy going on. Within several months it dawned on him, by now quite famously, that all signs were coalescing to indicate “mass formation.”
Astin Gregory invited people to share their own “moments of inflection” in the comments for this interview. Though all respondents shared an immersion in western culture, they clearly hailed from different walks of life. They were living their lives in the same sorts of environments as you and me, when something triggered a sense in each of them that “something wasn’t right.” Here are some of their brief stories:
- For me the anger started when my uncle had to be dressed like a surgeon to say goodbye to his wife of 61 years when she was dying of Covid. That is ethically and morally wrong, cruel and unacceptable.
- My point of inflection came when a proven treatment for covid was dismissed, demonised and even criminalised in my country Australia. One minute there was a pioneering team of doctors from the University of Queensland having great success treating people returning from China and the next moment the very safe drug being used was being touted as very dangerous. People around me started to irritably shut me down if I talked about it. The rapid and absurd character assassination of a drug did it for me.
- I grew up in a manipulative religious cult that controlled every aspect of my life. I escaped in 2010, at the age of 31. When this whole ordeal rolled out, I felt like the MSM was attempting to indoctrinate the masses but not into religion. The indoctrination was even MORE sinister. I connected the dots within days and it's only gotten worse. It's crazy how not everyone can see this craziness.
- I’m a labor and delivery RN in a San Francisco public health hospital and was nervous about the pandemic when it started. I feared dead mamas and babies. When we started having positive “cases” and I was decked out in my bird suit, I noticed 90% of my patients were not sick at all. They were there for other reasons. They were called asymptomatic spreaders (never seen that before) and added to the numbers. I thought it was weird that we would count those who are not sick as a “case”. That was my first clue… I saw ONE bad outcome from Covid. But, I noticed almost all of my patients suffering from the effects of the lockdown (lack of food, job loses, mental health issues and psychosis). Our hospital was nearly empty in 2020. And now in 2021, it is completely overwhelmed with people who are sicker than ever. I’ve seen more premies and dead babies than any previous year. Nobody seems to care now that we are doing mandatory overtime nearly every shift and I rarely get a break. And I’m supposed to believe the narrative that they care about our hospitals, our patients and our health? Nope! Clearly this is about something else.
- For me, the tipping point was listening to The Dollar Vigilante (Jeff Berwick) who showed hospitals around the country were not overflowed with cases, and I checked this out for myself at the local clinics. How could this be? Government was shutting down the businesses for no real crisis? Why?
- My doubts and perception that this is a one-way narrative slowly emerged back in autumn/winter 2020. I started my psychology studies but because of the pandemic situation, it was solely available as an online format. It was so much work and theory because it felt like you had to work more at home than you would under normal circumstances. I slowly got exhausted, depressed, and unhappy with the whole situation. I hadn't much free time because the workload was ridiculous and sat day and night in my room trying to catch up. From the dissatisfaction of the situation doubt started rising and I asked myself over and over again: "How is it possible that I am learning from so many qualified psychologists but not a single one of them voiced any concerns for their students, nor raised awareness about the psychological effects all of this can have on us, on children, and people in general?!"
- I won't forget the 8 o'clock Clap for Carers in the UK at the beginning of this pandemic. With the entire neighbourhood mindlessly clapping and smashing pans, it truly felt like I'm surrounded by zombies. Such a surreal experience... I think it’s the small, seemingly innocuous things like this is what turned the switch on so many people...
- Point of inflection: when I heard all the leaders around the world announcing their lockdowns with exactly the same words saying that "we need to be united against this common enemy" I knew that there was an agenda!!
- My turning point was when I saw intelligent people, doctors, experts being silenced only because of sharing a different view on the virus, vaccines, etc. I had a vague feeling from the beginning that something was not right, though......
- As someone with a background in molecular biology my inflection point was around October 2020 when all newspapers ran a story almost simultaneously of the tack that “antibodies are in your blood for only weeks therefore immunity only lasts weeks”. Basic knowledge of the immune system lets you see this is nonsense as memory t-cells fill the role of long term immune memory, not serum antibodies.
- I have a friend with a 96 year old mom who she didn't see at Christmas to "protect" her. This could possibly be her last Christmas and she spent it alone. I hurt for her mom and for her blind fear.
- For me, my intuition was triggered when they tried to mandate and demand what I HAD to fear the most. Something about that felt like a forced religion. What we fear most, we end up worshipping whether we like it or not. Our whole life aligns around that fear and we change our beliefs, capabilities, actions, and environment to conform to that fear. If that kind of effect isn't "worship" then please tell me what is.
- My point of awakening happened when I read an article (in the Ärztezeitung in Germany on july 31st 2020) about 2 studies conducted in the US and Germany with bloodprobes from 2019 (!) which showed T cells which were immune competent against SarsCov 2. Figures were over 40% respectively over 60%. I immediately relaxed, because our immune system would take care of the stuff. But everyone around me was still panicking and would not stop.
- My turning point was early on in the spring of 2020. My wife is a doctor and she worked in the Covid unit in South Texas for a few weeks. She showed me medical books on how to deal with any virus whether a patient is in a hospital or not. She told me that most out of hospital patients were not receiving but 10 to 20% of the medicines they should be. She showed me the medical documentation that masks do not work. Not even the N 95. It is amazing the level of obedience as well as the level of scientific illiteracy of the general population.
- My tipping point was reading about Ivermectin and the West's refusal to use it despite the evident success. It didn't make any sense that a 40 year old drug would suddenly become unsafe or ineffective, despite being linked to 2 Nobel prizes. It makes no sense, after that, fewer thing made sense.
- When I noticed some people were being shamed in believing differently I realized something big was happening.
- My moment of inflection came when listening to a Corona Virus briefing it was communicated that asymptomatic individuals exist. They then went on to inform us that devices would be used at all airports to gauge temperatures for boarding access. [Editorial remark: there is no scientific confirmation that asymptomatic people spread this or any other virus. That’s the piece of information behind this comment.]
- My most notable trigger was the censorship and vicious attacks of viewpoints that contradicted the main narrative.
- My point of inflection was when they moved the goal post of death rate % to case counts. Made no sense unless you wanted things to seem like they were worse than reality.
- When I searched wait time online of the local ER’s & hospitals in my surrounding area to find nothing longer than 45 mins.... also during the pinnacle.
- I am a Certified Hypnotherapist and have recognised what has been happening for a long time now. This is exactly what is happening... mass hypnosis/programming.
- I’m a nurse of 40 years. So the first week this started for us in March 2020 it immediately didn’t sit right. What initially confirmed it for me as a global headline stating 117 people die in New York City (NYC) in 24hrs. I read the article admittedly looking for fault. I found fault that being nowhere did the article specifically connect the number of deaths to the virus. I’ve never been to NYC but I knew it was a large city. I started to look for the average number of deaths per 24hrs in NYC. It took two days before I found any figures. One hundred and eight three (183) died from causes excluding motor vehicle accident and murder homicides. One hundred and seventeen is a significantly lower than the normal average of 183 and yet the world was horrified at that number! That was it for me. I now believe there is an agenda behind all this.
- Point of inflection: When the Big Tech companies announced 'covid misinformation' censorship policies for their social media platforms, this rang alarm bells for me.
- My trigger... as an English Trainer in Eastern Germany I had many students in the pharmaceutical industry. In January and February they all said this was exaggerated. And on a gut level... this was ridiculous. My boss, an idiot and tyrant, with no emotional intelligence fired me because I refused the bi-weekly test. This has been only evil from the beginning. My BS Meter was going off.
- By me, citizen of the Netherlands, my feeling of 'something isn't right' started by the continuing same message the government was telling, which didn't evolve by time, while I read a lot if other information on the internet. I experienced it as propaganda. A huge conflict rose with my psychologist, when I told him so. He said I was paranoia caused by my orthodox Christian background. I was shocked that even a psychologist didn't know what propaganda really is. His reaction was emotional. Not on a rational base.
- My inflection point was when we stopped talking about “deaths” as a metric and started talking about “cases”.
- Point of INFLECTION: Initially I embraced the narrative, as the fear increased in tandem with control I began to feel a sense of unhealthy constraint and control. Having been made a family scapegoat in my childhood, the eldest of 5, where fear and control alongside physical punishment took place, not only within the home but also among relatives. I began to feel very uneasy. I watched the BBC updates and slowly saw them as theatrical. Eventually the propaganda became obvious.
- The first time I realised we might be in trouble was Aug 2020. I showed a newly qualified Dr. a graph of deaths against age showing a clear right skew and she just said it doesn't matter. I was shocked and I realised it was not going to be as straightforward as just showing the data.
- When facts and data started to come out: the early vitamin D data from Indonesia, the FLCCC protocol based on treatment experience with 1,000’s of patients, the metabolic data, yet the alarmist propaganda stayed the same. “Vaccine was the ONLY answer”, yet ALL the FACTS pointed in the opposite direction… it became clear we were in a mass cattle herd operation heading towards the slaughter. This makes so much sense as when you try to discuss reality with “hypnotized” friends, they are vehemently opposed to addressing reality!
- I remember thinking, right at the start, when the Government were quoting figures "compared to what?"
- For myself, I was able to resist the hypnosis because as a child the parental authority was extremely arbitrary and unjust. I learned very early on that authority and adults in general were not to be trusted.
- I realised things were not quite right when there was zero media coverage of anti lockdown demonstrations in London.
- It's so funny I work in the energy industry where we kept working with only a few people following any regulations. People got sick and went away and we carried on. Stayed at a work camp and no one was able to physically distance and no one knows if people got sick there or not. Bosses told us to physically distance every morning as they stood shoulder to shoulder without masks on at the morning safety meeting indoors. Two narratives appeared one for management who hid at home and one for the working people who had no choice but to work.
- I saw this from day one. I got called into work on a Sunday to change all in-person medical appts to phone visits. That’s when I knew it was a switch to a virtual society. I saw all the measures that had been taken in health care and changes to software prior to this to gear up for this. Too many leaders retired just in time to get out. Too many “coincidences.”
- I was born and lived for the first ten years of my life in a communist country so I was sceptical about lockdown madness and then mass vaccination from the very beginning. The amount of psychomanipulation exceeds everything I've ever seen in my life.
- Someone I follow observed back in April 2020 when priests couldn't get into hospitals to give last rites and people were dying alone and committing suicide out of isolation and worry: "there are worse things than death" and that just summed it right up. We're ALL going to die, but while we're alive we must live.
- I woke up seeing Dr Pierre Kory’s appeal to the US senate. It wasn’t so much what was said even, but how he was pleading with them and their completely dismissive response. I was shocked by the response. I kept following the story…and here we are.
- There were two main turning points for me, the first being when nursing homes were forced to re-admit residents that had tested positive for covid when there were three empty nightingale emergency hospitals available. Later figures suggested this resulted in over forty thousand unnecessary deaths. The second was when esteemed scientists were shut down if they dared to question the narrative.
- Two points of inflection for me. Firstly, the mask flip-flop and my research into their efficacy/absence of. Then, the Great Barrington Declaration; or rather, the manner in which it was treated by the MSM and by politicians. Since then it's been like living in a parallel universe.
- I worked in offices all my life and I noticed that anyone who had any authority over me or us, became drunk with power, so I was not surprised when the medical field and politicians and social media became tyrants. Then there was the restrictions on pharmacies not filling prescriptions for hydroxychloroquine and doctors not giving them out, just following blindly what the medical hierarchies were ordering them to do, which was not treating people, sending them home till they were half dead, then to go to hospital and be finished off by the ventilators. This whole thing has been very sick.
There are many different kinds of voices represented in this sampling, but I think several themes pervade these narratives. One is moral outrage. Another is heightened skepticism, stoked by decades of government, media, pharmaceutical industry, medical profession misbehavior. We note people for whom the illogic of government actions suddenly clicked. We have scientists noticing policy makers not “following the science” and healthcare professionals who painfully realized that their work no longer served health. We have people putting words to their uncomfortable feeling that everyday living has taken a turn too bizarre to ignore.
I am not here to judge anyone. However, it does strike me that the people providing these accounts are enculturated very similarly to the way you and I are. They have similar opportunities for seeking out information to those many of us enjoy. They were endowed with a similar sensory apparatus, and their sense of right and wrong is not entirely dissimilar from that of people they strongly disagree with in some regards. I am guessing that supporters of the Covid narrative would agree with these people on many more counts than they disagree, regardless of party affiliation. I am guessing that with a few of them, those of you who support the narrative might even find yourself in a state of general agreement.
As I previously wrote, we all have our filters. Again, I don’t wish to judge, but merely to point out that it is always worth considering how those filters help and hinder us as we live out our lives in community.
It also strikes me in reading the comments that people’s points of inflection are scattered throughout the Covid timeline. Some were immediately suspicious, others only after numerous months of complying unquestioningly with restrictions and mandates. For those of you who can’t yet identify with these people and their moments of inflection, I wonder how the following will strike you.
The Longest Truck Convoy
Yesterday, a 50,000!-truck convoy completed its week-long journey from British Columbia in western Canada to the capital city of Ottawa. The convoy is so long that, as its front arrived into Ontario province, the rear was just making its way into adjoining Manitoba. That’s 50,000 truckers who have joined in protest against a mandate that, as of January 15, requires them to either show a vax card at the US-Canada border, or be quarantined for 14 days. The participating truckers, most of whom have already been injected with the experimental biologic treatments (as it would be proper to call them), say they will not back down. They say that, once in Ottawa, they will stay put there until the government has returned essential freedoms and rights to all the people of Canada, whether inoculated or not.
The Canadian Trucking Alliance and the American Trucking Association expect that 26,000 of 160,000 truckers will be sidelined by this mandate, or 16%. These are the people who deliver food and essential items of daily living, as well as most of the other goods Canadians enjoy. Shelves in Canada had already been emptying, and prices skyrocketing, because of supply chain issues resulting from Covid restrictions. Now, we might expect that some 16% fewer goods will be delivered to stores for the duration of this mandate. Now, we might also expect Canadian food prices to get even higher, with all the unhealthful stress, turmoil, and deprivation that will engender.
The Canadian government’s position here is particularly interesting. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems incapable of adjusting his Covid strategy to accommodate an avalanche of data from many countries indicating that the vaccine strategy has failed. This seems like bizarre behavior for a head of state, whose very job demands constant balancing and rebalancing of many priorities amidst constant flux. He says the vaccine is the way past Covid, end of story. From this frozen perspective, it doesn’t matter if grocery store shelves empty even more than they already have, if prices continue to soar, or that other kinds of goods become unavailable. The harms the new mandate will create appear to be immaterial. There can be no collateral damage serious enough to change course away from the mandates, whereby persons who spend entire days sequestered in a truck cabin are treated as lethal spreaders of a disease with a by-now negligible mortality rate. (For a possible explanation of Trudeau’s behavior see the last item in this newsletter.)
These truckers realized they, of all people, could put an end to the bullshit that has their entire country on its knees. They noticed that their work is indispensable to absolutely everyone in Canadian society and that they therefore are more powerful than they had previously known. They have decided that the price of their continuing to do their critical work is that their voices will now be heard. Trudeau had stated that they were a “fringe minority” with “unacceptable views,” but the enormous support they have generated would indicate otherwise. (According to a CTV poll, this “fringe” is comprised of 78% percent of Canadians.) Along the convoy’s route thousands of flag-waving Canadians lined overpasses, shouting and cheering. In several of the links below, you will see the crowds currently packing the streets of Ottawa, doing work important enough to brave single digit temperatures. Some seven million dollars were raised for the truckers on GoFundMe, further belying Trudeau’s comments. (Those funds are currently being withheld from the truckers, apparently with a coercive intention.) A far cry from the angry and violently inclined people the MSM warned would be showing up (when the MSM reported on this story at all), these people are protesting peacefully. They look cheerful, hopeful, determined, optimistic.
As I watched the evidence that something incredible was happening in Canada, I found myself laughing and crying at the same time. How beautiful that these truckers, this salt of the earth, are the ones to put an end to this nightmare created by the societal overlords who take offense at their need to be free. How delightfully thought provoking this development is, how ironic to people like myself, raised by immigrants who made it clear that the ticket to a meaningful life would be through particular educational accomplishments. With the many lies a person inevitably encounters along these paths to supposed success, it is no wonder that we now need the truckers to set us straight.
As much as I deeply appreciate every courageous truth-speaking doctor, Ph.D., lawyer, scientist, statistician, journalist, all of our efforts have not been sufficient to break the wall of resistance, lying, and censorship that technocracy has wrought. Apparently it is the salt-of-the-earth people who are opening the door for the freedom of us all. Apparently, droves of law-abiding Canadians can smell freedom in the air and it’s caused them to go wild.

Reaching Beyond “the News”
Last week my friend Diane Perlman posted an important piece about the January 23 “Stop the Mandates” protest in DC that she, I, and thousands of others attended. Afterwards, friends of hers who weren’t even there voiced their impression of the rally as anti-Semitic and Alt-right in tone. Diane wrote, “A seemingly successful propaganda campaign completely distorted what actually happened. Some who did not attend and refuse to watch the video are absolutely certain about that which they did not experience. “
As an antidote to the by-now ubiquitous manipulations, Diane provides a “propaganda playbook” to help us keep our radar up. She also reminds us of critical thinking basics that bear reviewing right now. Reading these will help you better protect yourself and your conversation buddies in this incredibly destructive and divisive environment.
For those who have gotten their pandemic information solely from “legacy media,” I think this document from Dr. Henry L. Ealy and team will help make sense of things.
The World Economic Forum spawned a school in 1993 that is currently called Young Global Leaders. Justin Trudeau is a graduate. Here is a video from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government where the director of the WEF, Klaus Schwab, speaks of his pride in having installed Trudeau and half of his cabinet into the top echelon of the Canadian government. (Schwab’s discussion with David Gergen begins at 1:07:45. It is during this discussion that Trudeau and his cabinet are specifically mentioned.)
To quote Schwab from this 2017 discussion, “I have to say when I mention names like Mrs. Merkel, Vladimir Putin and so on they have all been Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum, but what we’re really proud of now is the young generation like Prime Minister Trudeau, the president of Argentina and so on. So we penetrate the cabinets.’’
Does that shed any light on Trudeau’s dismissal of the protesters, or on his September remark that the non-inoculated “are the extremists who do not believe in science, who are often misogynists, often racists, too; it is a sect, a small group, who are taking up space”?
Thanks for a very important article and introducing the concept, at least to me, of an inflection point - actually a moment of awakening. Some of us are primed from having seen this movie before. I immediately started googling (now switched to DuckDuck Go) for natural remedies for Covid and found people and info, and then saw they were doing clinical trials of high dose intravenous vitamin C in China and Italy and saw these were bing ignored here .hanks for mentioning me and quoting my article!
